What, you might be justified to think, is he going on about? Why Heart Art? What meaning does this question of” heart “ even have within the context of making art? I don’t produce a painting with my heart, after all, but -as everyone very well knows-with my hands, the right one mainly, to be precise.😉
A man isn’t easily expected to talk about his heart, it just seems a little off, queer, you know. And I really don’t want to launch into some pseudo analytical discussion of what is seen to be 21st century socially acceptable behavior.
No, because I really believe more people, and much more men indeed, or especially, should talk about their heart, or more fittingly, from and with their heart. Stop ! Let’s set off on the right footing: I’m obviously not referring to the heart as in our first and foremost survival organ, and not either - or even, not quite sure which - from the viewpoint of expressing emotions. No! More befitting the topic of this intimate morning ramble, when I refer to the’ heart’, I’d like to talk about the opening up of our human heart condition, like the sunflower stretching its neck towards the sun and opening its petalled upper body, and then deeply chanting its love for, and openness to, everything known and familiar to it, but especially the less familiar, the lesser known, because -despite of latter’s potentially ego-threatening nature, the incantation to opening up, receiving and joyfully welcoming the new and unfamiliar can catalyze deeper transformation in an individual.
So now do you understand when I use Heart Art to frame the intentionality of what I do. Because of the openness of my heart attitude during the art creation process, each Heart Art painting results from that openness condition - and is unique to each moment in cultivating the opening up process. While creating, the process of creating an original Heart Art painting may include one or several hesitation moments or doubtful phases, so concluding also has to be about accepting and opening to imperfection.
The real world of practicalities can also be interpreted that way: we welcome what we encounter (or what encounters us) and, while not necessarily agreeing altogether, we accept the - outwardly - imperfect looking - outcome.
